Interested in Learning How to Open a Stubborn Bud?
When you have fresh cut flowers with closed buds that you want open faster, there are a few steps you can take. First, cut the stems 1/8 of an inch shorter on a diagonal. Then fill a vase about 1/4 full with warm water and put the cut stems in. Next, move the vase to a warmer part of the house or outside in the sun-whichever is warmer. Give the buds a couple of hours to open, this should work like magic. On the off chance this doesn’t work, there is one more thing you can try. Check to see if your bud feels sticky on the outside. If it does, this is probably why it is not opening. Spray the outside of your bud with warm water to dissolve the coating covering it. Be gentle!
Good Luck!
